PUL Calls for More Protection for On-spot Reporters Amidst Covid-19

Monrovia, Liberia – The Press Union of Liberia is calling on Media Institutions in the country to procure personal protective equipment for journalists who are doing spot reporting in the fields.

The Union said by doing so will limit the amount of risk reporters are exposed to daily while covering the COVID-19 outbreak in Liberia.

PUL Vice President Daniel Nyankonah also told ELBC Monday that the Union is working with partners to procure some PPEs for onward distribution to media institutions in the country.

Nyankonah wants Broadcast Institutions to restructure their live interactive programs and stop taking in studio guests.

Meanwhile the PUL Vice President is warning against any form of stigmatization against journalists in Nimba County in the wake of the quarantining of some reporters of Radio Tapita after one of their colleagues was tested positive of coronavirus.

Some members of the Union have already initiated a fund raiser to rally support for the Radio Tapita Journalists.
