Liberia Confirms 3 More Cases of Coronavirus

Health Authorities have announced three more confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Liberia.

It now brings the total number of confirmed cases to six.

However, Liberian Health Authorities said an initial test done on the first three confirmed cases on Tuesday proved negative.

Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah made the disclosure on Wednesday in an ELBC interview.

Minister Jallah said the specimens of the confirmed cases were tested along with the specimens of fifty-three contacts.

Meanwhile, NPHIL Director General Dr. Mosoka Fallah said those tested positive of the virus were already under quarantine.

Dr. Fallah said two of the three cases are the driver and security to the Country’s first confirmed case.

The NPHIL boss also disclosed that the Covid-19 suspect from Grand Gedeh County was tested negative while another round of test is expected soon.

At the same time, Information Minister Eugene Nagbe says Government will introduce stringent measures based on expert advice.

Minister Nagbe said though Government is exercising all the political will, it will need the advice of experts before introducing new measures.

According to him, the Government is closely working with Health Authorities and partners to monitor the scale at which new measures can be enforced.

The Information Minister encouraged the public to practice social distancing, constant hand washing and follow the existing preventive measures.

Minister Nagbe called on the community to cooperate with contact tracers to locate, contain and break the chain of transmission.

He spoke Wednesday in an ELBC interview.
