Liberian Health Authorities Intensify Safety Measures After Outbreak of Coronavirus in Ivory Coast

Heads of Traditional, religious and Youth groups have been urged to increase awareness on the Coronavirus and take preventive measures.

The Acting Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia, Dr. Mosoka Fallah, said the entire world is getting closer to a lockdown due to the rapid spread of the virus.

Dr. Fallah said the surest way to prevent the Country from the virus is for all citizens and civil society organizations to raise awareness about the disease and prevention.

He named hand washing, the constant use of sanitizers and avoid getting caught up in the sneezing of another person as preventive measures.

The Acting NPHIL boss was speaking Thursday at a one day Social Mobilization and Advocacy Meeting held in Monrovia.

The NPHIL acting Director General said surveillance and preventive measures have gone into maximum gear following an outbreak of the virus in neighboring Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, the Lead Campaigner of the National Risk Communication Pillar, Culture Ambassador, Juli Endee, encouraged the participants to report anyone suspected of facing breathing difficulty, cough and fever.

Madam Endee urged the local leaders to continue to follow the health protocols and safety measures put in place by NPHIL and its partners.
