President Weah Calls for Reactivation of AFL Agriculture Company…as Liberia Marks 63rd Armed Forces Day

Defense Ministry authorities have been instructed to formulate a policy framework to reactivate the Agriculture Company of the Armed Forces of Liberia.

The Agriculture Company has been dormant over some decades ago due to logistical constraints.

Delivering his Armed Forces Day Message Tuesday at the Barclay Training Center, the Commander –In-Chief of the AFL, President George Weah, called for the reactivation of the Army’s Agriculture Company.

President Weah said the move is essential to the overall development of the Agriculture sector and economic transformation.

The Liberian Leader also requested Defense Ministry authorities to identify and retrieve all lands owned by the Army for possible assessment for agriculture purposes.

At the same time, President George Weah has proposed the establishment of a School District for the Armed Forces of Liberia.

The President said under the School District, each AFL Barracks will have a school to provide quality education for the children of the men and women in arms.

The AFL Commander – In- Chief said the “AFL School District” will be supervised by the Ministry of Defense and monitored by the Ministry of Education.

As part of the arrangement, President Weah said qualified administrators and instructors will be recruited to serve as instructional staff.

The Liberian Leader also said the process will begin with the renovation of schools in each Military barracks across the Country.

Speaking at the 63rd Anniversary of the AFL on Tuesday February 11, 2020, President Weah said Government places significant emphasis on the welfare of children of men and women in arms.
