MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government is seeking to attract investment and expand economic opportunities as part of ongoing engagements on the margins of the UN General Assembly in the United States.
The Deputy Minister of Information for Public Affairs, Daaniel Sando, said:” President Joseph Boakai has re-emphasized the importance of reliable and affordable electricity during a meeting with U.S. Officials”.
According to him, the President stressed that improved access to electricity could support infrastructure development, private-sector growth, and job creation.
Minister Sando said President Boakai also underscored the need to deepen economic engagement and encouraged responsible investment in sectors critical to Liberia’s development.
Minister Daniel Sando said President Boakai also reaffirmed Liberia’s readiness to work with the United States and other international partners on initiatives aimed at advancing economic growth and human development.
At the same time, the government has emphasized its resolve to good governance, institutional reform, transparency and the rule of law.
The commitment was re-echoed by President Boakai during an engagement with the Chairman of the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Representative Brian Mast.
Minister Sando said President Boakai’s ongoing engagements in the United States are focused on strengthening Liberia’s bilateral relationship and advancing areas of mutual interest.
According to him, the discussions also addressed economic engagement, responsible investment, infrastructure development, private-sector growth and job creation.
In another development, Liberia is craving international support for the establishment of the country’s first comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment center.
Minister Sando said:” The call was made by Vice President Jeremiah Koung when he delivered Liberia’s national statement at the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna”.
He said the Liberian Government is mobilizing approximately 22 million US dollars to construct, equip, and sustainably operate the proposed facility.
According to him, the Vice President described cancer as one of Liberia’s most urgent health challenges and emphasized the need for stronger international cooperation to address the disease.
Deputy Minister Daniel Sando said the proposed center is expected to strengthen Liberia’s capacity to diagnose and treat cancer locally.
