West Africa Examinations Council Liberia Urges Disenchanted School Admin. of Exam Results…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has urged school administrators who are dissatisfied with the 2026 West Africa Senior School Examinations (WASSCE) results to formally apply for a review.

WAEC Liberia Head, Dale Gbotoe, said:” The Council has a moral obligation to provide clarity on concerns arising from the examination results”.

According to Gbotoe, several schools have already requested a review, with the process now officially underway.

He noted that following the revision, WAEC will communicate its findings directly to the affected schools.

Gbotoe assured school administrators that the review process will be transparent, noting that WAEC has no interest in deliberately failing or passing students.

Meanwhile, WAEC has disclosed significant improvement in the performance of Liberian students in the 2026 WASSCE.

Gbotoe told ELBC that the country recorded a sixty percent pass rate in five subjects, including Mathematics and English, as compared to previous years.

He attributed the improved performance to ongoing reforms in education, coupled with the commitment and determination of students.

The WAEC boss challenged education stakeholders to sustain the momentum as the country works toward achieving greater academic excellence.

Dale Gbotoe then maintained that improving students’ performance requires a collaborative approach to sustain investments and interventions across the sectors.
