Indian Gov’t Donates Fire Trucks to Liberia’s National Fire Service

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberian Government finally has the keys to five fire trucks that were brought to the Country by the Indian Government for onward donation to its Liberian counterpart.

India has a long bilateral tie with Liberia with the West African nation benefiting immense in the areas of food, human resource development and transportation from the Government and people of India.

The five fire trucks will be used by the Liberia National Fire Service.

Recently, the Indian Government brought to the Country Forty-five fire transport buses. They are plying the streets of Monrovia free of charge for three weeks – thanks to President George Weah.

Speaking at the turning over ceremony of the five fire trucks at the Freeport of Monrovia in Monrovia, Indian Ambassador to Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast, Sailas Thangal said the Indian Government is determined to strengthen the capacity of the Liberia National Fire Service.

“India will continue to support the Government of Liberia in every sector of its development agenda. We are really proud of the Liberia – India partnership” said Amb. Thangal.

“My Government is committed to deepening and ensuring the bond of friendship with the Liberian Government is enhanced in the areas of logistics and education” the Indian Ambassadors is quoted as saying.

Receiving the keys of the trucks on behalf of the Liberian Government, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill,recounted the numerous of support to the Liberian people.

“India remains a strong partner to the Government of Liberia’’, Minister McGill said.

The State and Presidential Affairs Minister used the occasion to remind the Indian Government of the Bali Island project which is expected to commence this year.
