Liberia Demography, Health Survey to Commence 2nd Phase

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo – Information Services (LISGIS) is expected to commence Phase Two of the Liberia Demography and Health Survey later this month.

The Public Affairs Director of LISGIS, Varfee Holmes, said: “The survey seeks to collect data about diseases, maternal mortality rate, among other health issues affecting the population of the Country”.

Mr. Holmes told ELBC Friday, January 3, 2020 that Phase One of the survey earlier covered Montserrado, Bomi among other Counties while the second phase of the survey will cover Southeastern Liberia.

Also speaking, the Director of the Liberia Demography and Health Survey Project, Germue Gbawoquiya, said the survey, when completed, will provide reliable statistics that could direct government’s programs to attract foreign support.

Mr. Gbawoquiya, as well dispelled rumors that LISGIS was doing sampling and testing the blood of respondents for ritualistic purpose.
