Gov. approves over $17 million for Special Senatorial Election, Nat’l Referendum

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has approved over 17(m) million United States Dollars for the conduct of the 2020 Special Senatorial Election and National Referendum.

The National Elections Commission Chairman, Cllr. Jerome Korkoyah, told a news conference Thursday, December 19,2019, that the Commission needs 7.2 (m) million US Dollars to begin pre-election activities and National Referendum.

He said:” The Commission had earlier submitted over 24(m) million UD Dollars for the conduct of the two electoral processes.”

The Chairman, however, said both the Special Senatorial Election and the National Referendum will be held simultaneously on October 13, 2020.

Cllr. Korkoyah disclosed that out of the amount, over 14(m) million will be used for the Special Senatorial Election, while over 2.8 will go towards the conduct of the National Referendum.
