MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberian Health Authorities have announced immediate nationwide enforcement of strict screening and infection control measures.
In a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), the urgent health protocol is in response to the recent confirmation of an Ebola case in Nigeria alongside the ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in Uganda.
The health officials are, therefore, calling for heightened vigilance across all sectors to prevent the virus from crossing into Liberia’s borders.
The new mandate applies to all health facilities, border entry points, public buildings, and other major institutions across the country.
Under the strict rules, all health facilities must immediately set up functional handwashing stations at their entrances, equipped with clean water, soap, or appropriate hand sanitizers.
