MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Richard Koon, has called for stronger regional cooperation among West African countries, particularly Liberia and Guinea, to promote peace, security, and economic development.
Speaker Koon made the call recently during a meeting with Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya in Conakry, where regional parliamentary leaders are engaging on issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Speaker Koon urged President Doumbouya to work closely with Liberian President Joseph Boakai to strengthen bilateral relations and preserve peace between the two countries.
He also highlighted the establishment of the MRU Parliamentary body as an important platform for lawmakers to deepen legislative cooperation and address shared regional challenges.
Speaker Koon is in Guinea for the 2026-2027 Parliamentary Opening Session of the Guinea National Assembly to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and regional cooperation.
