MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, through the Special Jury of Montserrado County, has indicted former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor, along with nineteen others, over drug trade allegations.
Former Vice President Howard-Taylor’s indictment was confirmed on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, by Criminal Court “C” Judge Ousman Feika upon the issuance of a Writ of Arrest to assume jurisdiction over the landmark drug case for criminal prosecution consistent with the law.
State prosecutors’ criminal indictment is pursuing eleven counts ranging from money laundering, criminal conspiracy, uninhibited importation, possession, exportation, and sale of drugs, among others.
Our Judicial Reporter said Court officers backed by armed police on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, moved to the residence of defendant Jewel Howard-Taylor to serve her a sealed indictment.
Other names on the indictment are former National Security Agency Deputy Director for Administration, Gerald Foley Smith, former LAA Deputy Director for Operations, Mark Quiah, as well as several other Liberian and foreign nationals.
