General Services Agency Boss Says Taskforce to Impound, Confiscate Gov’t License Plates…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The General Services Agency (GSA) has announced the setting up of a major task force to impound and confiscate the government’s license plates from private vehicles.

GSA Director General Galakpai Kortimai said:” The move is intended to safeguard the government’s assets and ensure that no one defrauds the state through tax evasion”.

On ELBC’s Super Morning Show Thursday, September 10, 2026, Kortimai said the GSA is working with the police and Traffic Management to execute the mandate.

He maintained that, as part of the inspection exercise, owners of private vehicles found using government plates will pay all arrears owed to the state before their vehicles are released.

The GSA boss added that over the years, some private vehicle operators have hugely defrauded the government.
