MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Central Bank of Liberia and Partners have begun the National Non-Performing Loans Resolution Conference in Congo Town.
The three- days conference aims to build consensus, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and develop a national NPL resolution roadmap.
Central Bank Executive Governor, Henry Saamio, noted the gathering aligns with the AAID and is cardinal to ensuring access to finance for the private sector and job creation.
Governor Saamoi said despite progress in the financial sector, access to credit remains constrained due to the persistence of non-performing loans.
The CBL boss also emphasized the need for partnership, coordination, and commitment among governments, regulators, banks, borrowers, and development partners.
He named the development of a joint communique, a policy road map, and a reform action plan to enhance financial stability, access to credit, and job creation as key outcomes expected from the conference.
