Monrovia, City Court Adjourns Preliminary Hearings in Drug Trafficking Case involving Madam Howard-Taylor

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Monrovia City Court has adjourned its preliminary hearings into the drug trafficking case involving former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.

Our Judicial Reporter said:” The case was adjourned after the Defendant rejected the Prosecution’s attempt to play audio recordings believed to be a conversation between Madam Howard-Taylor and some drug cartel members”.

Earlier, the Defense motion for the prosecution to turn over its evidence was denied by the Court.

Lawyers of the former Vice President had asked the State to turn over the evidence to allow the Defense to prepare its case.

But State lawyers rejected the request, arguing that the City Court lacks jurisdiction to determine the guilt or innocence of Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor.
