MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has pledged to rally international support to strengthen the operations of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Madam Johnson-Sirleaf says given the EPA’s critical role in protecting Liberia’s environment, international support will help expand the Agency’s capacity to address environmental and climate-related challenges.
The former Liberian Leader spoke on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, during a visit to the Headquarters in Monrovia.
Madam Johnson-Sirleaf commended the Executive Director of the EPA, Dr. Emmanuel Yarkpawolo, for choosing to use his expertise to contribute to Liberia’s national development.
During the visit, she toured the EPA’s Geographic Information System and Environmental Laboratories and held discussions with senior management.
Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf then urged employees to remain professional and committed to their responsibilities, stressing that national development requires collective efforts and leadership grounded in integrity.
