MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Depue Zuo has taken office as the new Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.
The former Deputy Finance Minister was among several new statutory appointees taking their respective positions in a ceremony at the ECOWAS Commission on Monday, September 1, 2025.
His appointment comes as ECOWAS seeks to strengthen its institutions and advance economic integration, peace, and development among member states.
Also at the ceremony, retired Senegalese Army General Birame Diop was commissioned as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission.
General Diop takes over from Dr. Omar Alieu Touray of The Gambia, whose four-year tenure ended on August 31, 2026.
