Pres. Boakai Renews Suspension of Import Tariffs on Off-Grid Solar Energy Products

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has renewed the suspension of import tariffs on qualifying off-grid solar energy products for one year.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the measure covers solar panels, batteries, lighting systems, and other approved renewable-energy equipment.

Under Executive Order #168, eligible importers must be registered with the Liberia Business Registry and engaged in the Renewable-Energy Sector.

The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) will administer the tariff suspension, while the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency will maintain a register of eligible products and beneficiaries.

The release noted that the suspension takes effect from the date of the issuance, unless earlier modified, suspended, or revoked by a subsequent Executive Order.
