Finance Minister Ngafuan Challenges Liberians to Make Nat’l Flag Symbol of Unity…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Ngafuan, has challenged Liberians to make the national flag a symbol of unity, hope, and shared national progress.

Speaking as Orator of Liberia’s 179th National Flag Day, Minister Ngafuan said:” The flag represents history, identity and Liberia’s promise to future generations”.

Speaking under the theme:” From Heritage to Hope, the Flag that Unites Us”, he called for national unity and shared responsibility.

Minister Ngafuan said:” The national emblem has witnessed Liberia’s finest moments and darkest days, remaining a symbol through conflict, transition, mourning, and reconstruction”.

He recalled marching as a first grader during the National Flag Day in 1978, describing memories that remain vivid nearly five decades later.

At the same time, the finance minister called for peaceful political competition and shared patriotic values among Liberians.

Minister Ngafuan warned that political disagreements should never become hatred, urging citizens to compete, disagree, and pursue victory without destroying one another.

He called for a national patriotic covenant grounded in peaceful politics, public accountability, constitutional governance, and truth.

The minister urged Liberians to protect the peace by using political platforms, radio programs, community meetings, and social media responsibly.

The Finance and Development Planning Minister then challenged citizens to put the country above self, raise national standards, strengthen integrity, educate children, and build Liberia together.
