BOMI COUNTY, LIBERIA-Bomi County Education Officer, Wisdom Karnley, says rising enrollment could soon exceed the capacity of the newly constructed Beh Town Public School.
Karnley said:” About three hundred students had already registered at the school since enrollment began in January, signaling growing demand for additional learning space”.
He appealed to the Ministry of Education to place the school’s thirteen qualified volunteer teachers on government payroll to sustain teaching during the school year.
The County Education Official warned that losing volunteer teachers during the school year could disrupt classes and negatively affect students enrolled at the new facility.
Karnley also appealed for government support to improve the school’s early childhood education facility, which he said remains in poor condition.
At the same time, Education Minister Dr. Jarso Jallah has announced a review of volunteer teachers at the Beh Town Public School for subsequent transition to payroll, as part of the Ministry’s commitment to quality and teacher upgrading.
Dr. Jallah made the announcement Thursday during the official turnover and dedication of the newly constructed Beh Town Public School in Bomi County.
The Minister said:” The new school includes classrooms, two hundred chairs, solar power, and whiteboards intended to improve teaching and learning conditions for students”.
She further announced plans to support Beh Town High School with a Science laboratory and additional rooms, while incorporating early childhood development facilities.
Dr. Jallah urged parents to send their children to school, stressing that public school registration fees have been removed from kindergarten through sixth grade.
