MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The University of Liberia President, Dr. Layli Maparyan, says the institution has begun preparations for major infrastructure renovation and modernization following the allocation of 6.3 million U.S. dollars in the 2026 Fiscal Year.
Dr. Maparyan said the project will address urgent needs, including leaking roofs and non-functioning bathrooms, while creating temporary classroom spaces during major renovation works.
She disclosed that the university is also working on plans to modernize its science laboratories, particularly in STEM disciplines, while the Solar Oasis Student Utility Park at Fendall will provide 26 new bathrooms and a solar-powered student center.
The UL president also addressed concerns over classroom chairs, thanking Voices of the Elders RL for donating chairs while assuring students that modern seating will be introduced as buildings are renovated.
Dr. Maparyan said: Preparations are also underway for the reopening of the university, including course registration through the e-portal, new-student orientation, and the resumption of student identification card issuance”.
She said the administration remains committed to the long-term modernization of the University of Liberia.
