MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Gbarpolu County Senator Amara Konneh has confirmed receiving a communication from the Inspector General of Police, Col. Gregory Coleman, requesting evidence of his recent public statements made about the recent cocaine case.
Senator Konneh, in an official Facebook post, said:” The Liberian Senate Committee on Security has reviewed the letter, with onward direction to his lawyers to acknowledge receipt to the Police Inspector General”.
In a recent Facebook post, Senator Konneh also alleged that whenever major narcotics operations are uncovered, junior officers are punished without due process.
The Gbarpolu County Senator further added that suspended and dismissed senior leaders remain comfortable at home and shielded from scrutiny by their bosses and allowed to maintain a front of “business as usual”.
He added that no security institution can credibly investigate allegations involving its own leadership or inner circle, adding that such cases require independent and transparent oversight.
