MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) has rejected LIBENERGY’s application for an energy charge.
An LERC release says that following a thorough review, the company failed to present any legal, factual, or procedural basis to warrant a review of the Commission’s Tariff Decision.
LIBENERGY requested the reinstatement of its proposed energy charge of US 0.25 per kilowatt-hour, contending that the approved US 0.22 kilowatts hour is not cost-reflective, adding that the tariff implementation should be postponed.
The Commission determined that the issues raised in the reconsideration application repeated arguments that had already been fully considered during the tariff review process, and did not identify any material error of fact or law.
The Commission emphasized that the postponement does not reverse its tariff determination, nor does it validate LIBENERGY’S assertion that the approved tariff is not cost-reflective.
It says the extension is intended to provide the utility with additional time to implement corrective measures and demonstrate measurable improvements in the quality, reliability, and efficiency of its services.
