Thousands in Wayzohn, Grand Bassa County to Get Safe Pipe-borne Water

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-More than eighteen thousand residents of Wayzohn City in Grand Bassa County are expected to benefit from improved access to safe pipe-borne water.

It followed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a modern water supply project in the area.

The project was launched over the weekend by the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation, as part of a broader effort to expand access to safe drinking water in underserved communities.

The residents, including the district mayor, youth and women leaders, welcomed the project and expressed optimism that it will address the community’s longstanding water challenges.

They also pledged their full support and participation in the construction and maintenance of the water system to ensure its stability.

They believe that the project, when completed, will provide safe and clean pipe-borne water to households and communities across Wayzohn and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, the LWASC Managing Director General, Mohammed Ali, says,” The first phase of the project is estimated at two hundred eighty-five US Dollars, and will create short-term employment opportunities for several young people”.

He noted that the initiative is part of LWCS’s broader efforts to provide safe, reliable, and affordable water to thousands of Liberians across the country.

The LWSC Managing Director also stressed the importance of community support and cooperation in ensuring the project’s successful implementation and sustainability.
