MONROVIA, LIBERIA-More than 450 Liberian Professionals are expected to be trained as part of the China Human Resources Program this year, with a 25 percent increase from last year covering diplomacy, agriculture, artificial intelligence, health, poverty reduction, and education.
The aim is to boost Liberia’s self-reliance, deepen China-Liberia ties and advance global development goals, enhancing strategic mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation.
Speaking at the reception of the China Human Resources Program Trainees, Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu said:” The program adheres to mutual learning and exchange, moving beyond a one-way transfer of knowledge to two-way people-to-people exchange”.
Amb Yin said the program fosters and promotes the integration of diverse civilizations and plays a crucial role in building consensus for solidarity and cooperation among nations.
The Chinese envoy described the program as an important measure to implement the Global Development Initiative and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
Amb Yin admonished would-be trainees to not only study diligently in their respective fields but also gain a deeper understanding of China’s development experience, observe Chinese society with an open mind, and engage actively.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu emphasized that development is achieved through vision, perseverance, and hard work, thereby urging those who have completed their training to apply the knowledge they have acquired in their respective fields to advance Liberia.
Amb Yin recommitted China to working with Liberia to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both nations and further deepen practical cooperation and exchanges that will bring broader benefits to both nations.
Making remarks, Unity Party Chairman Luther Tarpeh expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for their support and development contributions to Liberia, highlighting the Unity Party’s recognition of the One China Policy.
Chairman Tarpeh recounted the impact of his trip to China, which, he said, inspired a focus on national development.
The Unity Party chair hopes that the training opportunities provided by China will foster a nationalistic spirit and inspire Liberians to emulate China’s progress.
At the same time, Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration, Ibrahim Nyei, highlighted the importance of the One China Policy and reiterated Liberia’s commitment to the policy.
Deputy Foreign Minister Nyei further added that China’s development initiatives, including the global development, global civilization, global security, and global governance initiatives, align with Liberia’s ARREST agenda.
Minister Nyei emphasized the importance of capacity building for public service delivery, drawing parallels between China’s development and the need for similar capacity in Liberia.
He spoke on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the reception of the China Human Resources trainees in Congo Town.
The participants, who were drawn from different Ministries and Agencies of government in separate remarks, lauded China and the government for allowing them to build their professional capacities.
They emphasized the importance of the training, describing it as not just a learning experience but a chance to bring back valuable knowledge and skills that can contribute to Liberia’s development.
The participants expressed hope that such training will continue to strengthen the people-to-people friendship between Liberia and China and to enhance Liberia’s professional capacity.
