MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has finalized the procurement of Austrian technology firm (OSD) to design and build a new national biometric identification system for Liberia.
The goal is to strengthen the Country’s identification infrastructure.
The system, which will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement, is expected to facilitate the reopening of the National Identification Registry and the resumption of mass enrollment across the Country.
Addressing a news conference on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Monrovia, NIR Director of Communications, Daniel Sargbe, disclosed that the procurement process involved the LTA, CBL, NEC, and other relevant agencies.
Director Sargbe further revealed that the concession agreement with OSD has been finalized and submitted to President Boakai for approval.
He noted that, once approved by the President, the agreement will be forwarded to the Legislature for ratification.
