MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has mandated the Minister of Justice to immediately launch a comprehensive and impartial investigation into allegations against the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Officer-In-Charge, Fitzgerald Biago.
This comes in the wake of emerging public allegations and social media reports linking a pickup truck allegedly connected to a narcotics trafficker to the LDEA Officer-In-Charge.
The President’s directive followed a communication from the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of Liberia regarding the recusal of the LDEA Officer-In-Charge.
The Minister of Justice has been instructed to submit a detailed report to the President within forty-eight hours.
President Boakai reaffirms that his administration remains unwavering in its fight against illegal drugs, organized crime, and corruption, and emphasized that no individual or institution is above the law.
The Executive Mansion says that upon receipt of the investigation report, the President will carefully review its findings and determine the appropriate course of action in the best interest of justice, accountability, and the people of Liberia.
At the same time, President Boakai has recommitted Liberia to promoting regional and international peace, security, and sustainable development.
The Liberian Leader noted that Liberia will continue to work along with its counterparts to advance the principles and objectives of the African Union (AU), ECOWAS, and the United Nations.
President Boakai’s statement was contained in a congratulatory message to his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara, on the occasion of the 66th Independence Anniversary of the Ivory Coast on August 7, 2026.
In his message, President Boakai expressed hope that the cordial bonds of friendship and cooperation between Liberia and the Ivory Coast will continue to grow stronger in the spirit of African solidarity.
The Liberian Leader then prayed that God will endow President Ouattara with abundant wisdom, strength, and good health as he leads the people of Ivory Coast toward greater peace, progress, and prosperity.
