Info Minister Says Liberia Continues to Pursue Vessel…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah says efforts are continuing to pursue a vessel that entered the country’s territorial waters before moving into the high seas.

Speaking at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Thursday, August 6, 2026, Minister Piah said: Liberia’s Coast Guard attempted to intercept the vessel, but it drifted further into deep sea and out of reach”.

He said: The government has since engaged both local and international partners to assist with the operations, because of limitations in Liberia’s capacity to pursue the vessel farther offshore”.

The information minister has, meanwhile, assured the public that the government remains determined to track the vessel and will continue providing updates as progress is made.

The Minister said the government remains committed to transparency and will keep citizens informed throughout the ongoing operation.
