MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Gregory Coleman, has expressed disappointment with sections of the media for allegedly falling prey to drug cartels.

Speaking at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Inspector General Coleman alleged that some drug traffickers have bribed media practitioners to compromise their integrity and misled the public.

Though he fell short of naming any media institution, Col. Coleman cautioned journalists to put Liberia first by upholding professionalism and resisting any attempt to undermine the country’s fight against illicit drugs.

The Police Inspector General disclosed that state actors linked to the illegal drug trade will be prosecuted following investigations by the Joint Security Taskforce.

According to him, no one is above the law, warning that the taskforce will go beyond drug seizures to dismantle trafficking networks across the country.

Meanwhile, Inspector General Gregory Coleman further emphasized President Joseph Boakai’s determination to ensure that Liberia does not become a haven for drug traffickers.
