GRAND BASSA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Grand Bassa County is expected to benefit from a 70-million-US-dollar beach resort project aimed at boosting tourism in Liberia.
The villas and resorts will be constructed and operated by SAJ Development Group based in the United States of America.
The resort, which will be located in Edina City, will include 250 hotel rooms, a beach club, an Amphitheatre for concerts, and an immersive cultural and art park to showcase Liberian and international artists.
The founders said Edina City was chosen based on Edina’s historical significance to the Bassa Cove Colony and its natural beauty.
The group said the goal is to create a destination that uplifts Liberia’s image and attracts global interest in West African culture, music, and food.
The five-year project, if completed, will attract at least ten thousand visitors a year as a starting point to grow the sector.
Meanwhile, residents of Edina City and its environs have welcomed the construction of the multi-million-dollar resort in the area.
According to the citizens, the construction and operations of the resort will provide jobs to empower residents of the city and beyond, and the project will help reduce unemployment and improve livelihoods in Grand Bassa County.
They added that the development will create both short-term jobs during construction and permanent jobs when operational.
The funding for the project will come from personal investments and partnerships with Liberian and international banks.
