Governance Com. Chairman Says Efforts to Amend Constitution Place Emphasis on Increasing Women’ Participation

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Chairman of the Governance Commission, Professor Alaric Tokpah, says ongoing efforts to amend Liberia’s Constitution are placing major emphasis on increasing women’s participation in national decision-making processes.

Professor Tokpah said” Women have, over the years, played significant roles in Liberia’s political, social, and economic development, but their representation in key decision-making institutions remains a concern that requires deliberate national attention”.

He says strengthening women’s participation in decision-making will help promote inclusive governance, enhance accountability, and ensure that the views and interests of all sectors of Liberian society are reflected in national policies and development programs.
