GRAND BASSA COUNTY, LIBERIA–The Ministry of Education has welcomed the dedication of the Buchanan Science Laboratory, describing the facility as a major boost to practical science education and student learning in Liberia.
The laboratory was commissioned Saturday, July 25, 2026, by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. during a ceremony attended by senior government officials and education stakeholders.
According to the Ministry, the facility, constructed through the initiative of Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, will strengthen science education by expanding opportunities for practical learning among students in the county.
President Boakai described education as a national priority and urged students to make maximum use of the laboratory to improve their academic performance and prepare for future careers.
The Liberian leader also encouraged teachers to inspire innovation, creativity, and excellence by providing effective science instruction and mentorship.
The Ministry of Education said the science laboratory aligns with the government’s efforts to prepare students for careers in medicine, engineering, technology, and scientific research.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the project, describing it as a significant investment in improving educational infrastructure and learning outcomes across Liberia.
