MONROVIA, LIBERIA- The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) says it has completed cash and material assistance to 531 families affected by fire outbreaks and windstorms in six counties.

‎‎According to the Red Cross, the affected counties include Grand Cape Mount, River Cess, Margibi, Nimba, Lofa, and Montserrado, where 158 fire-affected families and 373 windstorm victims benefited from the support.

‎Addressing a news conference Wednesday in Monrovia, LNRCS Secretary General Gregory Blamoh said the assistance helped affected families access shelter, food, and other essential needs.

‎‎SG Blamoh disclosed that the organization also supported reconstruction efforts in River Cess County while providing repairs and livelihood support to vulnerable households.

‎He further noted that the Red Cross has now shifted its focus to flooding in Monrovia and other flood-prone areas following an assessment that identified damaged homes and unsafe water sources, among others.

‎‎Meanwhile, LNRCS is appealing for more support from the government, partners, and the public to strengthen its flood response efforts.
