MONROVIA, LIBERIA, University of Liberia President, Dr. Layli Maparyan, has called for master’s and doctoral programs, faculty capacity-building, and student exchanges to strengthen French language education in Liberia.
Dr. Maparyan said the University has offered French Studies since the 1970s and remains Liberia’s only institution awarding a bachelor’s degree in French.
The University President made the remarks during a meeting with International Organization of La Francophonie Representative, Thi Hoang Mai Tran, Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, faculty members, and students Thursday.
The visiting International Organization of La Francophonie Representative, Thi Hoang Mai Tran, said her mission is to assess the status and promotion of French language education across Liberia.
Tran described the University of Liberia as the country’s leading French language training institution and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting advanced training opportunities for member countries.
