MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senate has constituted a specialized committee to investigate unpaid revenues from petroleum products.
Senate Protempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence said:” The intervention has already made the Executive adjust petroleum prices to raise sixteen million US dollars annually, in support of the government’s development programs”.
Senator Karnga-Lawrence said the government has currently collected 8.4 million United States Dollars so far, while 24 million United States Dollars have also been raised for the road fund between January and June this year.
The Senate Pro-Tempore said:” Despite these gains, some petroleum dealers are collecting money, but have not paid such an amount into the government’s consolidated account”.
The committee is chaired and co-chaired by Senators Amara Konneh and Emmanuel Nuquay, while Senators Albert Chie, Darius Dillon, Crayton Duncan, Alex Tyler, Edwin Snowe, and Jonathan Sogbie are members.
