She noted that the Open Media House will also create awareness and sensitize Liberians on the economic potential of the blue economy.
The NaFAA Deputy Director General for Administration made the statement on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, during the launch of the Open Media House in Monrovia.
At the same time, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah says responsible communication and media reporting are key to unlocking the economic potential of Liberia’s Fishery Sector.
Minister Piah said:” The media has a critical role to play in reviving the sector”.
According to him, journalists can educate the public on the importance of marine resources, sustainable fishing practices, and ocean conservation.
Minister Piah noted that effective reporting can also highlight major threats facing the sector, including overfishing, illegal fishing, marine pollution, and habitat destruction by unscrupulous individuals.
The information minister added that strong media coverage will showcase opportunities in the blue economy and attract both local and international investors to Liberia’s Marine Sector.
