GRAND BASSA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Police in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, are investigating the alleged stabbing to death of a 12-year-old boy.

The victim, identified as Reuben Wheagar, reportedly died after he was stabbed in the chest by a man described by residents as a disadvantaged youth.

According to ELBC’s correspondent in the county, Reuben and his brother had gone to purchase plastic materials in the Flower Mill Community when the suspect allegedly confronted them and demanded money.

Our correspondent said the victim reportedly refused to hand over the money, after which the suspect allegedly attacked him with a knife.

Reuben was rushed to the Liberian Government Hospital in Buchanan, where medical authorities later pronounced him dead.

Following the incident, angry residents reportedly attacked the suspect before officers of the Liberia National Police intervened and took him into custody.
