Sustainable Development Institute Accuses Environmental Protection Agency…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Sustainable Development Institute (SDI) has accused the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of failing to respond to a complaint filed against Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL).

It can be recalled that SDI and the Nitran Community filed a complaint with the EPA on April 30 this year, alleging that GVL has destroyed invaluable forests in Sinoe County.

SDI, at a press conference on Monday, July 6, 2026, expressed disappointment in the EPA for failing to acknowledge or respond to the formal complaint filed against the GVL.

SDI Program Assistant, Samson Williams, alleged that the company destroyed one thousand hectares of globally significant forests and coerced communities to sign agreements without informed consent.

Samson Williams described the EPA’s action as a violation of environmental law and a dereliction of its duty to regulate the sector.
