30 Liberian Students at Israel’s Agricultural Research Center Support Agric…

ISRAEL-More than thirty Liberian students at Israel’s premier desert agricultural research center have voiced strong support for the agriculture pillar of the Liberian government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

The students, who are currently enrolled at the Ramat Negev Desert Agro-Research and Business Center, described the Agriculture Sector as the backbone of national prosperity.

According to them, firsthand exposure to cutting-edge agricultural techniques has reinforced their belief in farming as a catalyst for economic growth and food self-sufficiency.

In an interview with ELBC on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the group of students emphasized that agriculture holds transformative potential, not only for Liberia, but for any nation seeking sustainable development.

They expressed readiness to collaborate with Liberian authorities by sharing the practical knowledge and innovative practices they are acquiring during their stay in Israel.

The students are also calling on their fellow Liberians to unite and take collective action in support of the government’s development efforts.

At the same time, the International Cooperation Coordinator at the Magen David Adom Emergency Response Center in Israel says the effective emergency response is a synchronized partnership that transcends borders.

Chaim Rafalowski noted that no country can afford to operate in isolation when disaster strikes.

Rafalowski emphasized that Magan David Adom, Israel’s equivalent to the Red Cross, views regional capacity-building as a strategic priority.

He noted that the institute is eager to partner with West African nations to help strengthen their emergency response frameworks, from ambulance services to mass-casualty incident management.

Rafalowski made the remarks when a 14-member delegation of West African journalists visited the response center as part of a week-long tour across Israel.

The delegation is exploring the country’s advancements in politics, economics, innovation, culture, and tourism, with emergency preparedness emerging as a standout field of interest.
