MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President Joseph Boakai has suspended Peter Malcolm King from his position as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Company of Liberia, with immediate effect.
The suspension comes as a Joint National Security Investigation continues into the seizure of about 237.6 kilograms of cocaine at the Roberts International Airport.
According to the Executive Mansion, investigators identified entities linked to Mr. King among those requiring further scrutiny in the ongoing narcotics probe.
The release says the suspension is an administrative measure aimed at protecting the integrity of the investigation, maintaining public confidence, and preventing any interference.
In the communication, President Boakai stressed that the action does not mean Mr. King is guilty of any wrongdoing.
The Liberian leader has, meanwhile, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fighting drug trafficking and ensuring a transparent and impartial investigation.
