MONROBIA, LIBERIA- Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah says Liberia is on an irreversible path toward national development.
Minister Piah noted that the country is making steady progress, evidenced by ongoing infrastructure and development projects nationwide.
He also highlighted Liberia’s growing role on the global stage, attributing the country’s increasing recognition and attractiveness to investors and development partners as key drivers of national growth.
Minister Piah said Liberia, under the leadership of President Joseph Boakai, has regained respect and credibility within the international community.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show on Monday, the information minister expressed optimism about Liberia’s future, based on the current pace of development.
According to him, the country has recorded significant gains in the economic and social spheres that continue to improve the living conditions of the Liberian people.
At the same time, the information minister says the government is making deliberate investments aimed at increasing access to stable and affordable electricity across the country.
Minister Piah acknowledged that the country’s current electricity supply remains inadequate to meet growing national demand.
He noted that the new Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact, currently under development, places significant emphasis on expanding electricity access and strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure.
According to Minister Piah, reliable electricity remains a critical driver of economic growth and national development.
He said Liberia currently requires at least 450 megawatts of electricity to meet demand, compared to the 88 megawatts generated by the Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant.
The Minister expressed confidence that ongoing investments in the energy sector will help bridge the country’s electricity deficit and support sustainable economic transformation.
