MONROVIA, LIBERIA- The Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) has ended a strategic meeting with representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to strengthen efforts toward compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation(EUDR).
The meeting aimed at providing the IFC with a comprehensive overview of LACRA’s mandate and its regulatory role in implementing the EUDR.
As part of its fact-finding mission, the IFC is engaging with key stakeholders to understand their respective roles, perspectives, systems in place, and the challenges they face.
In a release on Tuesday, LACRA Director General Christopher Sankolo provided the IFC with an overview of the institution’s mandate and its role in implementing the new regulation in Liberia’s agricultural sector.
The LACRA Director General highlighted the importance of coordination among government institutions, noting that LACRA, with support from the European Forest Institute, has already developed a roadmap that outlines responsibilities for agencies working toward EUDR compliance.
