MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The President of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Ernest Duku Jallah, has emphasized the importance of establishing a Youth Legislative Caucus to advance youth interests within Liberia’s legislative process.
Speaking during a working session in Monrovia, Jallah described the proposed caucus as a nonpartisan body that will serve as a bridge between young people and lawmakers, ensuring youth concerns receive legislative attention.
He noted that the initiative was previously introduced and endorsed by the Legislature, but progress stalled before completion of its governing framework due to challenges that affected the process.
According to Jallah, stakeholders are now reviewing the caucus’s rules, governance structure, membership criteria, and age requirements before submitting the final document to the Office of the Chief Clerk.
Jallah expressed optimism that once approved, the caucus will become an officially recognized legislative body dedicated to advancing youth-centered policies and strengthening youth representation nationwide.
