MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Embassy of Liberia in Pretoria, the Republic of South Africa, has clarified that no Liberian is affected by the ongoing xenophobic attacks on foreigners in South Africa.

The clarification was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and emphasized at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing by Minister Jerolinmek Piah.

Minister Piah disclosed that there are fewer than two hundred Liberians residing in South Africa, either as refugees or seeking asylum, and they are all well.

Minister Piah also said,” The South African Government has condemned the actions of citizens against foreigners and had an engagement with all accredited diplomatic missions in South Africa”.

According to him, the South African Government has since reaffirmed its support for protecting all foreigners within its country.
