MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-A one-day engagement with officials of sub-contracting companies operating in the China Union concession area has ended in Margibi County.
The meeting, held on Monday, aimed at finding solutions to complaints raised by residents regarding negligence by the China Union Company.
Key concerns included a lack of safe drinking water, water pollution by sub-companies operating in the area, which is preventing locals from farming, and other related issues.
During the engagement, officials of the companies agreed to collaborate with Representative Yarh to ensure the plights of the residents are properly addressed.
Meanwhile, a follow-up meeting has been scheduled for Friday, June 5, to reach a final decision on ways forward.
The engagement brought together District Four Representative Emmanuel Yarh, the company officials, and stakeholders to discuss ways of improving the conditions of the residents.
