YEKEPA, NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-A delegation from the Mines and Energy Ministry on Tuesday, May 2, visited Arcelor Mittal Liberia in Nimba County to assess the company’s operations and engage with stakeholders.
The visit forms part of ongoing government efforts to monitor mining activities and strengthen collaboration with stakeholders in the sector.
The team toured key company facilities and received briefings from management on ongoing mining operations, production activities, and development projects underway in the county.
During the visit, Assistant Minister for Mines, Samuel Momolu, stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring mining companies comply with Liberia’s mining laws and contribute positively to national development.
Also speaking, Arcelor Mittal Liberia Chief Executive Officer, Michiel Van Der Merwe, highlighted several initiatives aimed at supporting local communities.
