MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has warned Liberians against spreading unverified health information and urged citizens to rely on official health authorities.
Speaking Thursday at the Ministry of Information Press Briefing in Monrovia, Minister Sando said circulating information capable of causing panic without expert backing is a criminal act.
According to him, ongoing health surveillance measures aim to strengthen national preparedness and early response systems.
He noted that the country should wait for an outbreak before taking preventive actions to protect public health.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Information Minister disclosed that the National Public Health Institute of Liberia and the Ministry of Health are intensifying nationwide surveillance and encouraging citizens to report suspected cases to relevant authorities.
