Liberty Party Discusses Support to Pres. Boakai’s Re-election Bid

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberty Party says that the possibility of supporting President Joseph Boakai’s re-election bid in 2029 remains under serious internal discussion.

The Party’s Secretary, Martin Kollah, said:” The Party is weighing all available options, including fielding its own presidential candidate or backing President Boakai for another term”.

Kollah maintained that the Liberty Party remains an independent political institution, and that any decision regarding 2029 will be carefully scrutinized in the Party’s best interests.

Speaking on ELBC’s Super Morning Show on Monday, May 25, 2026, Kollah added that the Party will continue to value its ongoing efforts and leadership to improve the country through deliberate national development initiatives.

At the same time, the Liberty Party Secretary General has challenged officials of the ruling Unity Party to intensify efforts aimed at building broader political alliances ahead of the 2029 General Elections.

He noted that many officials of the Unity Party have become complacent and are failing to engage other political parties for possible collaboration and national political inclusion.

He maintained that political outreach and coalition-building remain key ingredients in strengthening support across the country.

Martin Kollah further asserted that President Joseph Boakai appears to be the only one consistently reaching out to others, especially the Liberty Party.
