MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has launched the Liberia National Economic Student Hub, targeting students at various universities across the country.
The initiative was launched under the theme:” Collaborating for Solutions: Youth Perspectives on Liberia’s Economic Future”.
Speaking at the event on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Finance and Development Planning Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, disclosed that phase one of the initiative will recruit over five hundred students.
Minister Ngafuan noted that students will be trained to produce policy briefs, fact sheets, and macroeconomic policies, including the development of researchers.
Minister Ngafuan vowed that the Liberian Government will invest in the initiative and will seek partners’ support to enable young people to contribute to nation-building.
Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Henry Saamoi, termed the initiative as timely, noting that it places young people at the center of shaping Liberia’s economic future.
Saamoi believes the program is significant because it brings young Liberians directly into the heart of the country’s economic confrontation.
He emphasized that the inclusion of young people in Liberia’s economic discussions is no longer an option but a necessity.
Governor Saamoi said,” The inclusion of young people will also strengthen the country’s economy and create a new pathway for growth and transformation.
