Speaker of House of Rep. Challenges Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute Graduates

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Richard Koon, has challenged graduates of the Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute to see diplomacy as a critical tool in addressing growing global uncertainties.

Speaker Koon said,” The role of diplomats is becoming increasingly important amid rising geopolitical and social challenges across the world”.

He urged the graduates to remain selfless, loyal, and always place the interest of Liberia above personal considerations.

According to him, Liberia is rapidly evolving, and the role of diplomats in advancing the country’s image internationally cannot be overemphasized.

Speaker Koon further encouraged the graduates to help remodel and reposition Liberia’s image on the international stage.

At the same time, House Speaker Koon has reiterated the National Legislature’s commitment to supporting the Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute.

Speaker Koon said the support will be provided through direct budgetary allocations to strengthen the operations of the institution.

He noted that given the critical role the institute continues to play in preparing Liberia’s diplomats, it requires increased support to address its operational challenges.

The House Speaker hailed the institution for its contributions over the years in training and shaping Liberia’s foreign service professionals.

According to him, institutions like the Foreign Service Institute deserve adequate budgetary support to ensure operational efficiency.
